founding member
Founded by the late Kuo Pao Kun and T.Sasitharan in 2000, TTRP is a unique actor training programme that incorporates immersions in Asian theatre systems as well as contemporary training methods, and intercultural approaches. In TTRP, actors train with master artists in traditional systems - Japan's Noh, China's Beijing or Kun Opera, Indonesia's Wayang Wong or Balinese Dance, and India's Kutiyattam or Kathakali. On top of this, actors will also learn more on European/American theatre and contemporary Southeast Asian theatre. This exclusive programme has attracted aspiring professional actors from all over the world, and strives to nurture actors who not only have technical skills, but are also socially engaged and critically aware, so as to contribute meaningfully to the culture of their communities. Graduates are well equipped to work across cultural, aesthetic and linguistic boundaries, and join a network of former teachers and classmates working all across Asia and around the world.
