PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA IN CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP

INTRODUCTION
The Professional Diploma in Creative Entrepreneurship (PDCE) nurtures the capabilities that entrepreneurs need in order to excel in the dynamic and challenging Creative Industries sector, which comprises Arts and Heritage, Design and Media. Participants will be equipped with the skills to successfully manage, grow and sustain their own creative enterprise through modules such as Leadership, Intellectual Property, Marketing, Financing, and Project Management, all tailored for the exacting climate of the Creative Industries. Each participant will develop a strategic plan over the course of the PDCE, and will also have the opportunity to meet and exchange experiences with fellow entrepreneurs, creating a collaborative and supportive network. PDCE will be conducted by Emily Hill - Singapore's first confluence of arts, creativity and commerce.
COURSE SCHEDULE
22 November 2008 – 6 June 2009
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
PDCE is a 6-month programme that includes classes, group work, self-directed learning and mentoring, by the end of which each participant will have developed a strategic plan for his or her own enterprise.
Classes will be delivered in 3 blocks of 3 weeks each, with 3 or 4 weeks in between to allow participants to reflect on and apply what is learnt in their strategic plans and assignments. In the final part of the programme, participants work on their plans with guidance from mentors, and submit them for assessment and feedback.
The course director will be available throughout the entire programme to assist the participants.

INSTRUCTORS
The course director is Goh Su Lin (Insead EMBA ’08) of Emily Hill and Theatre Training and Research Programme (TTRP). She practiced commercial litigation before becoming General Manager of The Necessary Stage, then Consultant, Law & Business Affairs for MTV Asia, before taking up her present position as General Manager of TTRP. She is also a member of the Arts & Culture Manpower & Skills Training Council of WDA, and has acted as guest speaker and external examiner for classes at National University of Singapore, LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts, Temasek Polytechnic, and Columbia University.
Instructors are experts in their fields, and guest speakers will offer real-life examples and stories from their own business experiences. Many of the instructors, guest speakers and mentors are themselves entrepreneurs.

*Only available to Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents engaged in CI.
ACCREDITATION
Accredited by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency. Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will receive a WSQ Professional Diploma in Creative Entrepreneurship.
PDCE was developed and piloted by CIDA (www.cida.org) for Creative Community Singapore (CCS) and Singapore Workforce Development Agency to develop a comprehensive programme for the creative industry, based on the Creative Industries Workforce Skills Qualifications (CI WSQ) framework.

Team Building through Printmaking
We are in a society where “team” exists in every aspect of our lives, from family, social, to work. This unique workshop explores team dynamics from a historical perspective. Participants take part in a highly interactive activity that can help them become better team players while exploring each individual’s creativity.

Rediscover the Creative You
Encouraging and leveraging employee creativity will help organizations not only survive but thrive in today’s business world. Organizations need to instill an ethos of creativity and innovation within each individual in the organization - from solving everyday problems that require finding a way of efficiently doing more with less or finding breakthrough solutions for a problem. Creativity needs to become a competency within the organization and its people.
Rediscover The Creative You is where the journey can start for the individual and the organization. We are all born creative, but often the passion and curiosity within have taken a backseat to the demands of daily living. Rediscover the creative you in this workshop to take down personal blocks to creativity using arts-based activities. Understand more about diversity, different perspectives and communicating better.
