“Philips has lighted up many global landmarks but this is the first time we are lighting up a very unique icon like Emily Hill. Our “Painting with Light” collaboration is an innovative platform for businesses and arts to interact and work synergistically. By using Emily Hill as a canvas, we empower our customers to transform very sophisticated products to an easy-to-use experience. We also create opportunities for them to interact and tap into the creative energies of artists to co-inspire and co-create great ideas together,” said Tiew Chew Meng, General Manager, Philips Lighting Singapore.
The creative ambience and lighting effects from Philips LED technology were co-created by a team of Philips Lighting consultants and Emily Hill’s artists. The end result was a true collaboration between business and arts, bringing together Philips Lighting’s technical expertise and the creativity of Emily Hill’s artists to co-create the perfect lighting ambience and experience at the creative icon.
Philips is one of the first Arts & Business Partners of Emily Hill. Its brand promise of “Sense and Simplicity” in everyday design that is at the forefront of technology and easy to experience is well aligned with Emily Hill’s focus on design, aesthetics and making creativity an integral part of people’s lives.
Philips and Emily Hill are collaborating on creating “Painting with Light” experiences for a series of Philips’ events for architects and designers. Emily Hill’s architectural features and landscapes provide a canvas to experiment with Philips’ products, creating a truly interactive experience for the architects and designers to inspire and exchange ideas.
Emily Hill is Singapore’s first prototype of a new enterprise model that has brought together artists, arts groups and commercial companies in a Confluence of Creativity, Arts and Commerce. Emily Hill celebrated its official launch on 15 November 2007 at its home in Upper Wilkie Road, lit up by Philips, which houses 11 artists and companies.
Philips Lighting products are found all around the world: not only everywhere in the home, but also in a multitude of professional applications, for example 30 per cent of offices, 65 per cent of the world’s top airports, 30 per cent of hospitals, 35 per cent of cars and 55 per cent of football stadiums.
